Baan Tepa Philosophy

Baan Tepa’s approach to resources, cooking and food is driven by authenticity. The team is explorative by nature and places importance in remaining deeply rooted to traditions whilst creating an environment that is both relaxed and refined for the guests. The ingredients are at the heart of their cuisine, the chefs take pride in sourcing locally, harvesting from the garden always being mindful about the food waste that is produced.

The team, led by Chef Tam Chudaree Debhakam works, designs and cooks by the philosophy of sustainability.

About Baan Tepa

The historic house itself is part of the Baan Tepa experience. Baan Tepa was built in the 1980s, owned by Chef Tam’s grandmother, Lady Suwaree Debhakam, a home that has been in the family for 3 generations. The compound has now been converted into an urban food space with three key sections; Tepa Kitchen, Tepa Garden and house itself.

Baan Tepa Dining Experience

The Baan Tepa dining experience is an interactive one. Guests are welcomed into the home with a garden tour to learn more about the ingredients in the culinary journey that they are about to embark on. Guests will either enjoy a 6 course menu for lunch or 12 course menu for dinner. Each course is presented at the table by the team and the full menu will be revealed at the end of the meal.

The kitchen is a learning space, where local ingredients meets collaboration and exploration. Diners are invited to enjoy a course with the Chefs where they can engage in conversation and discover new ingredients and cooking methods. The menu will change seasonally and we plan to curate and cook with the highest quality of Thai ingredients grown and raised for us by like minded small farming communities, with shared philosophy for sustainability, quality and the environment.

The Garden Wing

Baan Tepa offers a private dining experience in the ‘Garden Wing’ which is made up of the dining room, private high-ceiling lounge, patio, and private bathroom. The single hardwood table seats up to 16 guests, here guests can enjoy a 12 course menu for either lunch or dinner.

Please note that the price to reserve this space is THB 70,000.- ++ which includes the food price. Guests may bring their own beverage with no corkage fee. Our team will also provide complimentary Singha water and soft drinks at no extra charge.(price excludes 7% VAT and 10% service charge)

Tepa Garden

Baan Tepa’s urban garden sits in the very centre of the compound, a representation of the team’s core values and crafts. Vegetables and seeds are consciously chosen, a selection of heritage varieties that thrive in the local environment and naturally grows in Thailand.

The spiral garden in the middle is a versatile way to grow plants and crops and utilize the space within Baan Tepa. The Raised Beds is where the chefs practice rotational cropping, with a series of herbs, crops and spices depending on seasonality. For guests who wish to know more, they’re encouraged to wander around the garden, picking and choosing herbs and spices before the dinner begins. Everything is organically grown, plants are nourished with compost made from the kitchen’s food scraps and weeds in the garden, coming together in full circle.

Another landmark in the garden is the Lemon Tree bar, Baan Tepa’s intimate alfresco corner, suited for pre-dinner drinks before stepping into the culinary journey.

Each guest is served a 6 or 12 course interactive menu consisting of local and regional ingredients, presented by our team of chefs. We hope to fill your experience with delicious surprises, therefore the menu will be revealed at the end of the meal.
